Although he should not have really cared, Adrian actually felt slightly unhappy when Amelia didn't accept his hand for the trip to Iserlohn. He wasn't sure why--they'd known each other for about a day, and over that day had gotten into multiple life-or-death situations that had left one (or both) of them in a bad mood. They'd honestly not had the most friendly trip through that jungle, but once they'd gotten out Amelia had seemed to soften up. He was slightly confused on this situation, tapping his chin and shaking his head, sighing quietly and following her at pace, down towards the road. As they reached the road, he noted the direction towards Iserlohn, and they started off on their trip to this city. They stayed silent for the trip, yet Adrian didn't feel like it was an awkward silence. He occasionally glanced over towards Amelia, but she seemed to be completely focussed on the road ahead. Not sure what to say or do, he would simply remain quiet as well, following her to Iserlohn.

Eventually, they made it into the city and were met with piercing stares. He had never really interacted much with Zakat outside of today, so he only had minimal knowledge of them--but there was something that everyone knew about Zakatians. They didn't like outsiders. Therefore, for this girl to be acquainted with the Emperor of all people was not only amazing, but completely unheard of. He almost wanted to look at her in awe when he came to that realization, but decided instead to keep eyes front, watching the faces of those staring at them to be prepared for any possible attacks on their person. He wasn't too sure of Zakatian Law; he didn't know if they were protected from being assaulted or not. He wasn't familiar with their customs, their way of speaking, nothing. Instead, he could only keep his wits about him, and some gold in his pocket. Even if people didn't like outsiders, they liked money. A universal currency helped, too. They might not get directions or assistance based on merit alone, but people would definitely help for a cost--though being outsiders, those costs would be steeper than usual. He didn't want them to find out about the diamond, either, as it was likely that it'd either get stolen or under-appraised. He'd wait until they were in friendlier territory.

"Being in a city like this is odd..." He nodded in agreement. "I spend more time outside of settlements than I do within. This one, specifically, is rather hostile. I don't like it, but we have to be here for a couple of reasons," he frowned, "Reasons that will probably cost us gold to get anywhere with." He didn't like the fact that this might cost them a lot of money. Frankly, he wanted to be in and out as soon as possible: He wanted to find this Shrine, and he wanted to get Amelia to safety. This place... didn't feel safe.

Amelia stopped in the middle of the street and lowered her gaze to the floor. She just realized something. What the hell was she doing here? Did she really even have the right to come here? Sure, she met the Emperor and was to be escorted to a certain place, but that didn't mean that the Emperor gave a damn about her. She cared about her citizens, not Amelia as a individual person. She was a woman with a good moral psychology and helped someone when she needed it. That did not mean that someone like the Emperor of Zakat was going to drop everything she was doing to protect her. No, it meant that she was like every good person out there; she stopped and helped a stranger because she was there to do so. Amelia sighed. She should have thought about this when the trip first started. She was so concentrated on being free and getting away from those bastards that keep trying to collect her, that she left logic behind. Not only that, but she was now bound to this male after making him a promise to do something for him; it's a shame she couldn't remember exactly what that promise was at this point, but she didn't doubt that it would be brought up soon enough.

"Well... What do we do now?" she asked, lifting her head a few moments later. She was here, but she didn't exactly feel welcome. The stares they received only confirmed that. It didn't matter much to her; she very rarely felt welcome any place that she went. The only issue now was where to go. "I can't just show up at the palace..." Amelia said, refusing to look toward him, "I realize now... that just because I met the Emperor and was helped by the Emperor, does not mean that I am a special guest of the Emperor. Let's just... find your shrine..." It was obvious that Amelia was a little more than disappointed by this realization. "Do you know where we are supposed to go to find it?" Amelia finally turned toward him and asked. Luckily, she had momentarily forgotten about a certain little incident and didn't have to fight a blush. Her mind was more concentrated on her current goal, which was to keep her promise.

As she stopped, his body slowed to a stop as well as he turned to look at her with a concerned expression. She was looking down at the ground there, and he realized that she must be getting tired. They had, as far as he could tell, been travelling for a few days now. That trek through the jungle alone took them at least two days--the first day had been quiet, the second one was the day of anger and raging. And now, here they were, in Iserlohn. Yet, for what? He placed his hands on his hips and continued to watch her without speaking. He was tired as well--hungry, too. At least they'd be able to get a warm meal while they were here. "Well... What do we do now?" He went to open his mouth in expectation of making a bit of a remark about her being the one with the plan, but he quickly shut it when she lifted her head. She looked like a puppy that didn't get her treat. He swallowed, letting out a breath and waiting for her to continue speaking. Obviously not looking for an answer, she started up pretty quickly afterwards, "I can't just show up at the palace... I realize now... that just because I met the Emperor and was helped by the Emperor, does not mean that I am a special guest of the Emperor. Let's just... find your shrine..." He sighed, shaking his head. She wasn't even looking at him--was she that embarrassed? Did she feel that she'd left things completely out of her mind when she had been rescued? She was probably kicking herself mentally. He let out another breath and walked up to her, when she finally turned towards him, "Do you know where we are supposed to go to find it?" He stopped short of being right next to her.

"I haven't a clue," he laughed bitterly, "It's literally just somewhere in Zakat. You have more of a chance of seeing the Emperor than I do of finding this shrine by just looking. It's well-hidden, but there's supposedly someone in Zakat who knows about it... a friend of the family. I just don't know where he lives. It's part of the challenge, you see... There are both puzzles in finding the place, and actually getting the item within. So... that's kind of why I accompanied you. Partly out of duty... partly because we both had really hard goals to get to." He winked at her, before reaching out and lightly cupping his fingers underneath her chin. His smile grew soft, and he looked directly into her eyes for a second, trying to gather anything of her emotions from them. She looked a little surprised and blushed. He found himself blushing too, for some reason, but he needed to keep it down so he could actually talk. "We came to this town to do two things, and unless neither of those things can be done from this place, then we're not going anywhere until we've done them both. I may have saved you, but you've already saved me twice. Call this repayment." He moved his hand away before she broke his wrist and placed his hands in his pockets, whistling and looking around. "First thing's first, however. We need a place to stay for tonight. I'd like to sleep in a bed tonight, as opposed to a tree root. Any ideas?" He looked back at her and gave her his best smile.

"I haven't a clue," Amelia raised an eyebrow at his laugh. Did he really not know where this this was supposed to be? What did he expect to do then!? Did he want to drag her around the entire nation for years, hoping and praying they would find what they need? "It's literally just somewhere in Zakat. Partly out of duty... partly because we both had really hard goals to get to." Amelia looked away and sighed, fighting the very strong urge to get very irritated with him at this point. What the hell was he thinking!? Of course, that irritation faded when she saw him wink at her. How was she supposed to react to that?!

"A-..." Amelia stiffened when he placed his hand under her chin and her face reddened. By his reaction, she realized that her reaction was not what he expected. His face turned red as well. It would have made hers worse, but he began to recompose himself, so she did as well. "We came to this town to do two things, and unless neither of those things can be done from this place, then we're not going anywhere until we've done them both. I may have saved you, but you've already saved me twice. Call this repayment." Amelia reached up to grab his hand, but he pulled away. Her intentions were actually not to harm him, but to merely take his hand into her own. She put her arms back down to her sides and then behind her, holding them there shyly. "First thing's first, however. We need a place to stay for tonight. I'd like to sleep in a bed tonight, as opposed to a tree root. Any ideas?" he asked and she blinked a couple times, her eyes shifting over to the left for a moment and then back to him.

"Yep." Amelia nodded and smiled to him. She knew they had some money left from before, so she stepped over passed him. As she did this, she slipped her hand into his own and began pulling him along. About fifty feet away was a hotel, the more modern version of what she called an inn. "We can stay here for the night." she told him, stopping in front of the entrance. It wasn't anything fancy, but it'd house them both quite comfortably. Since the people around them also began to feel a little more comfortable with them showing up, they were getting a lot less stares now. Amelia continued to pull him along, seemingly reluctant to let his hand go as they walked along. Something about holding his hand made her feel safe, but she'd never say that out loud. As they went inside, she lead him up to the front desk and was kindly greeted by the woman. "One room, please." she said, not really thinking about the fact that meant they'd be sleeping in the same bed, but it's also not like she'd really mind at this point.

Once the woman booked the room for them, they'd have to pay for one night. Since Adrian currently had the money, Amelia waited for him to pay. Once paid, the woman would hand them a key and point them in the direction of their room. If allowed to, Amelia would still be holding Adrian's hand and walk to their room with him. Finally, as they entered the room, she'd let his hand go and walk over to the bathroom to see what the shower situation was going to be like. That was the first thing on her mind, a shower. She smiled happily as she saw that it was a huge bath and immediately began running the water to fill the bath. "I'm taking mine first!" she said from the bathroom, loud enough for him to hear. It was then that she realized something; she didn't have a change of clothes. "Hm..." she looked through the cabinets of the hotel room and saw that there were large towels and a set of robes under the sink, "This'll have to do until my clothes are washed..." Amelia pulled on towel and the girls robe from the cabinet and stepped out of the bathroom, "I'm taking my shower now." She smiled happily at him and stepped back inside toward the tub, closing the door behind her and finally beginning her bath.

"Yep." Well, that was a relief. He really didn't want to sleep somewhere dingy--maybe they'd find a nice inn, or a tavern. He'd never really been to Zakat before, so he didn't exactly know what they had around here that would be the same. Maybe they had secret torture devices for outsiders, or something of that ilk. Obviously these were scare-stories, but that didn't make them any less plausible in his mind. She went to step past him, and he suddenly felt warm fingers slip into his own. His face reddened again, but he assumed that it was because she wanted to lead him along, so he allowed himself to be lead, continuing to hold her soft hand with a grip that was none-too-tight. He wasn't sure what he was looking for, only that she knew herself. "We can stay here for the night."

He looked up and saw the building, his eyes widening a little. "What is... that?" He honestly wanted to know: It looked far too nice for someone like him to be able to stay at. That said, at least the stares were dying down around them. She still had his hand as they were lead into the building. Was this really what Zakatians lived like? It was so... disconnected. "One room, please." Suffice to say, he wasn't actually paying much attention when Amelia said that, so he didn't notice. Instead, he simply noticed that he was being nudged towards the desk. Apparently, he needed to pay. "One room for one night is xxx gold." Blinking, he noticed there that she'd said 'one room'. However, one of his hands was still locked with Amelia's--and for some reason, he didn't really care right now. Instead, he reached into the bag with a semi-awkward gait and produced enough gold to cover the night. She handed Amelia the key, and pointed in a direction that he assumed their room was in.

Amelia, of course, decided to continue to hold his hand, and he wasn't exactly complaining. It felt nice and soft; something that he could hold for as long as he felt like. When they finally entered the room, she let go and his immediate reaction was to let out a really long breath of air. "One room, really? I don't mind, and I guess it is cheaper..." His words faded away as Amelia shouted something about it being her turn first. He looked over to see that she was in the bathroom, smiling out at him while carrying a robe and a towel. "I'm taking my shower now." The door was closed, and Adrian let out another long breath. "Alright then." Shaking his head and laughing, he went over to a table at the side of the room and put both his bag and the twin swords upon its surface. "It's about time I did maintenance, isn't it?" He would reach into the bag and produce a well-used whetstone, before putting said bag on the ground and sitting at the table with a smile. He was glad that Amelia wasn't here to see this--this was kind of his own little personal ritual. He could get this done before she was out of the shower, he was sure.

Unsheathing the black blade first, he started to carefully and measuredly run the whetstone down the edge of the sword. Each stroke was timed and slow, keeping to a simple rhythm as he continued to re-sharpen the blade. After about two minutes, he would move on to the next edge, and the next one. Once he had finished that sword, he lightly pressed a finger against the weapon's edge to feel its sharpness and nodded in satisfaction, re-sheathing the sword and producing the blue one. This one he took a little longer on, taking his time to savor the small lines and places on the weapon. It hummed with a satisfying power that he could feel in his fingertips and through the stone. Eventually, however, that weapon would be sharpened as well. After testing its fidelity, he returned the blade to its sheath and turned to see if Amelia had come through that door yet.

The shower was long as very, very comfortable. The warm water relaxed all of her muscles and made her feel so refreshed. By the time she was done, an hour and a half passed. She took quite a long time in there, it's a wonder no one sent a rescue party for her. As she stepped out, she shivered at the cold tile under her feet and hurried onto a fluffy rug. She assumed it was there to prevent slipping and soak up as much dripping water as possible, so she was going to take advantage of that. She rung her hair out into the sink and flipped it behind her as she reached out to grab a clean towel. She dried herself off a bit and then decided to put on the robe, tying it tightly around her. Once she felt it would not fall open, she picked up her dirty clothes and stepped out of the bathroom. As she entered the bedroom area, she tossed her clothes into a tight corner, stepped over to the bed, and collapsed onto it.

"You're turn!" she said happily, letting her arms fall off to the sides and her legs hang from the side of the bed. Looking over to him, she smiled widely. "The shower is great, water is warm. I haven't been this comfortable in such a long time." Amelia took in a deep breath, closed her eyes, and relaxed into the beds blankets. As she laid there, looking up to the ceiling, she thought about what the two of them were going to do next. At this point, she really wasn't sure. She felt stuck. For now, she could only wait for him to get done with his shower and guide her along, no matter how much she didn't enjoy being lead.

Almost a good hour after he'd finally finished sharpening the edges of his swords, Adrian heard the sounds of someone leaving the bathroom. Turning around to see that which he knew was on its way, he couldn't help but give a small smile as he watched Amelia leave the bathroom. She looked refreshed and relaxed--he had to admit, it had been some time since he'd last actually had a chance to bathe. He might have to savor this while he can. With a long stretch, he stood up from the desk and slid the long black cloak off of his shoulders, hooking it over the back of his chair. He then proceeded to quickly take off his undershirt, letting it fall to the ground and revealing his pale torso to anyone who could see. Amelia would be able to see both old scars and new wounds that were healing. "Your turn!" She had already flopped onto the bed, looking quite comfortable indeed. "The shower is great, water is warm. I haven't been this comfortable in such a long time." He returned her bright smile.

"I guess I'll have to go and test it out, then." He walked towards the door of the bathroom and stepped inside, feeling the damp warmth of a recently-used bathroom. He stood there for a second, before realizing something and turning around to look back out at her, "Try think of how we could get in touch with the Emperor. Tomorrow, I'll follow your lead." He smiled at her and closed the door between them, finally getting rid of the rest of his clothes and turning on the water. The door was locked behind him, and he would climb into the tub once it was sufficiently full, letting the water build up around him and envelop his body. Once he had decided that it was full enough, he'd begin slowly washing himself, leaning back and relaxing in the hot water. Each movement was deliberate, partly out of cleanliness and partly because he suddenly realized how exhausted he was. Tiredness washed over his body as the water in the tub, and every second that passed caused him to get closer and closer to sleepiness. Noticing that this could be problematic, he sat up and tried to finish scrubbing his body meticulously, concentrating hard on getting himself clean enough to get out of this bath and get into the next room.

It was then that it hit him--there was only one bed in that room. Which meant one of two things: they were either going to share a bed, or Adrian was sleeping on the floor tonight. As someone who was used to sleeping on hard surfaces, he wouldn't exactly complain about it, but he kind of wanted to feel how soft that bed was. Finally getting out of the tub and stepping back onto the tiling, Adrian emptied it and wrapped a towel around himself to get steady, before rubbing every part he needed to dry and picking out a robe to swing around his body. He opened the door and released a torrent of steam into the bedroom, stepping out and smiling brightly at her. "You're right, it was a lovely shower." Laughing, he closed the bathroom door behind him and meandered over towards the bed, quickly stealing a look at his sword to make sure he was in range of it as he sat down beside Amelia, looking back down at her. "So, am I sleeping up here, or down there?" He motioned towards the floor with his head.

Amelia had not been so comfortable in a very long time. She was clean, she felt safe, and she was laying in a very fluffy bed with even fluffier blankets around her. The idea of sharing a bed honestly didn't bother her. It was quite a large bed, so what would be the issue with it? She wasn't exactly a bed hog. Of course, these things didn't even cross into the young woman's mind. In fact, she still hadn't even realized that there actually was only one bed. She curled her knees up to her chest, laying on the very edge of the bed on the opposite end from the bathroom. Her hair, still wet, draped over her face, covering her eyes from the dim light that penetrated through the curtains as the sun went down. Night was falling and she was tired. She was actually tired enough that before Adrian had even exited the shower, she had fallen asleep. She naturally curled under the blankets and clung to them, wrapping her arms around a pillow. With a single deep breath, she fell deeper into her sleep and was then like a rock. She did not move, she made no noise, and her breathing was very light.

Though Adrian came in to talk to her, the only thing he would see was her head, her body under the blankets, and a soft smile on her lips as she slept. Next to her, there would be ample room for him to lay down next to her. If they slept in the damn jungle together, why would this be an issue? Sure, in the jungle it got cold as hell at night and they had to survive some how, but who cares? They've already kissed, they can share a damn bed. And with that, draws the conclusion of one Bothersome Transfer... as Amelia peacefully slept in the hotel room with her only friend.

Apparently, Adrian's words had fallen upon deaf--nay, sleeping ears. Smiling softly at the head poking just out of the blanket, he walked over to her side of the bed first, looking down at her and chuckling. "Yeah, we both need this sleep. You get your rest, 'kay, Amelia?" He chuckled again, leaning in and planting his lips lightly against her forehead, holding them there for half a second before standing up straight. "I'm kind of tired myself, actu--" His words were interrupted by a giant yawn, as he recognized the symptoms of needing bedtime and wandered around to the other side of the bed, looking down at it and sighing. His face was slightly red, whether from the warm shower or the feelings inside his mind he was not sure. Sitting down on the mattress, he clambered underneath the covers and pulled his side up over his body, resting his head on the pillow and closing his eyes. Within seconds, he was asleep, back-to-back with this woman whom he had met barely five days previous. How Bothersome.
