Personality: Darvan Gates was once a despicable man who cared for nothing more than himself. He did what he wanted to do, when he wanted to do it, and assumed that everyone in his life was going to deal with it. He thought very highly of himself and figured no one could ever tell him no. That changed when he returned home one day and found his wife and daughter had both taken all of their belongings and left him. Darvan finally realized that he was not someone who couldn't be replaced or left and began to regret his choices in life. Now, Darvan has done his best to straighten up his life. He's become an honest and straight forward family man. He loves his wife and his daughter; Darvan does anything he can to keep the two of them happy and safe, not wanting to ruin his life again.

Skills:

Swordsman: Advanced. Highly skilled, but no master. He's a strong fighter in the sense that he's very durable, hard to damage, but also easier to hit. He's not very quick, but can take one hell of a hit, and he can hit pretty damn hard.
Construction: He's got a lot of knowledge within the subject of construction and can build just about anything you want.
Holds His Liqour: He can drink just about anyone under the table; Not many people can out drink this man.

History and Permissions

Character Background: After his daughter was born an Arcanist, he accused his wife of cheating on him. To get revenge, he fled and did not come back for  years. Once he had returned, he handed her divorce papers and said he had met another woman. After a long and violent fight, he left there and returned to his new woman, Layla Barton. The two married and had a daughter named Eleanor Gates, often called Eli for short. He started up a construction business and settled down, promising himself to treat his new family with much more respect and care than before. He also kept his previous life a complete secret from his wife and daughter, assuming that he would never see his former wife or daughter again. Unfortunately, that was not true. His life of selfish acts came back to bite him on the ass and his daughter was kidnapped over and old fight that he forgot happened. Now, Darvan searches desperately to find his little girl, having promised Layla that he would not return without her.
